Rezzed items missing?
Just thought i would share something i found out recently. Have you rezzed plants from a mystitool for example but there not there, yet your prim count says they are?
Well Ctrl+Alt+T (Transparent mode) doesnt show them and Objects show in About Land isnt helping either?
Well theres a Text based viewer called METAbolt 4.27MB in size that will do the job for you. Once installed and you have logged in (Make sure you left your Avi where the items are) Click Tools then Objects. It will list all the objects in the range set (default 20m) and your missing ones will be on the list. Highlight the object and click take. Logout and go back to your Regular Viewer and check your inventory and there you go items returned and prim count accurate.
I hope this helps instead of returning ALL Objects and saving time. I have provided the Download Page Link.
Your best viewing expierience
I have made this poll to see what your views are. I do have my own opinion on which i think has poor fps (Frames Per Second) etc but interested in yours.
Particles & Mini-Map
Here we look at Particles and the mini-map.
Particles
So there you are dancing the night away and loads of particle effects go off. Yes they may look pretty but your finding your viewer slowing down (LAGGING). Well if you goto View on the toolbar at the top of your screen and near the bottom of the menu you’ll see Hide Particle. Click Hide Particles so theres a cross by it and they disappear so speeding your viewer back up.
Mini-Map
In the more recent viewers they have added yellow dots and not just green. Green dots are residents you dont know and Yellow are on your friends List. Also if you hover your mouse cusor over any dot you will see the residents name, cool features if you lost someone in a crowd . If the dot shows as a V-shape it means they are either above you or below you and if it appears as a normal dot they are on the same height as you.
Banlines & Texture MB
Just thought I’d share with you some more viewer goodies with you .
Banlines you got to love them haven’t you hmm well now you have the option the turn them off. Even though they are still active on the land/parcel you don’t need to look at them anymore. Simply got the view option on the top tool bar and look down you will see Banlines. By default they have a cross by them=on, so click Banlines so the cross disappears and they will no longer be visible but still there.
Texture Memory MB if you seem to crash a lot or mare than usual as well as lowering your graphic settings try lowering your Texture Memory MB. This can be found in Edit > Preferences (crtl+P)> Graphic tab > Hardware Options. But I must warn you by lowering this too much can cause your textures to become blurry but try and keep it 512MB or below.
Viewer and Stats
Have you ever gone around a region in second life and thought OMG i cant move (LAG)? There is a way to check to see if it is your viewer or the region(sim) your in, Click View>Statistic Bar this will bring up a panel on your screen below.
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Statistics_Bar_Guide
The link above will give indepth information about what each part does on the picture above.
The Main ones to watch are (fps) and Packet Loss, Lower the fps= slower Second Life, Higher the Packet Loss = More Data being lost between you and Second Life.
What i will be doing
Well the first time i have written here and only dabbled in blogging. Started to write blogs for skidzpartz.com about SL viewers which is fun to do. But i thought i would start to write stuff here also.
Lets hope its the start of good things
)
I tend to write about settings that some residents tend not to know about or just never tried. I have been a resident since Nov 2007 and always messed with viewer to see what things do (curiosity). Been a Public Nightly Tester (BSI) since the 1.22 viewer and with the RC (Release Candidate) Viewer fully underway still plenty to do.
Stay tuned as i will be adding more about the in’s and out’s..
